BRIAN

Brian Polivy
January 22, 1957 – April 10, 2006

Brian Polivy of Pacifica, CA, passed away suddenly on Monday, April 10 from complications due to hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Brian is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Laurie Polivy; daughters, Jilian and Dana; sister, Denise Polivy of Willington, CT; and mother, Arline Shimberg of Pembroke Pines, FL. Brian's father, Sidney, died when Brian was 16.

Brian was born in NYC on January 22, 1957, and grew up in the Bronx and Westchester County. He graduated from the State University of New York at Brockport in 1979. After college Brian moved to Northern California where he embarked on a successful career in the restaurant business, becoming an accomplished cook and restaurant manager.

A devoted and loving father, Brian took an active interest in his daughters' extra curricular activities. He was an avid skier and mountain biker and completed the 1999 AIDS Ride from SF to Los Angeles. Brian was an excellent guitarist, from his days performing in the Grateful Dead cover band August West, to his appearances at the Half Moon Bay Brewery. More often he enjoyed performing informally with friends after cooking wonderful meals at his Pacifica home. All of his life Brian remained a lifelong fan of his home town NY Yankees.

Brian was a wonderful man, devoted to his family and friends, talented and tender, full of humor, and solid as a rock. His passing leaves his immediate family and extended family of friends heartbroken. He will be always missed and never forgotten. A Memorial Service for Brian was held on Friday, April 14 at Sinai Memorial Chapel in San Francisco.

In lieu of flowers, Brian's family requests donations be made in Brian's name to either the Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Association (www.4hcm.org), or the Education Fund for Jilian and Dana Polivy.

Checks for the girls' education fund should be made out to The Polivy Family Memorial and can be mailed to:
