Ravin’ Films is pleased to announce the release of John Lee Hooker: Come And See About Me-The Definitive DVD. The longform program, a Ravin’ Films production, was produced by Bob Sarles and Christina Keating in association with Eagle Eye Media for Eagle Rock Entertainment. The DVD will be distributed worldwide by Eagle Vision, a subsidiary of Eagle Rock Entertainment.

John Lee Hooker: Come And See About Me-The Definitive DVD presents a retrospective of film and video performance clips of the blues master from a span of over three decades beginning with 1960 Newfort Jazz Festival and culminating with an intimate solo performance recorded in the bluesman's home in the '90s.

Included in the clips are performances of John Lee Hooker solo, with his band, and with a variety of guest artists including Van Morrison, Bonnie Raitt, Carlos Santana, Ry Cooder, John Hammond, Paul Butterfield, The Rolling Stones and Eric Clapton. Many of these performances have never been seen before. John Lee Hooker: Come And See About Me-The Definitive DVD also includes interviews with John, many of the artists he influenced and played with, and his daughter Zakiya Hooker.

"It's been a tremendous privilege to be able to work with the John Lee Hooker family to produce this collection of performances for blues fans to enjoy," said Ravin’ Films founder Bob Sarles, who also directed and edited the program. Clips in the program were culled from hundreds of hours of video from the John Lee Hooker archives.

"I approached this project as a fan myself," said Sarles. "Over the years I was lucky to have seen John Lee perform many times in various settings, from tiny bars to headlining huge festivals. It was wonderful being able to watch the many hours of material we initially had to work from to put this program together. I took very seriously the task of selecting and sequencing the material that I felt would best represent the awesome talents of John Lee Hooker."

Bonus features on the DVD include a discography, a performance of the Hooker classic "Boogie Chillen'" with slide guitarist Roy Rogers, and an extended interview with Zakiya Hooker. Post production of the program took place at Ravin’ Films studio in San Francisco, with final video mastering and video restoration at Video Arts, SF. A new stereo and 5.1 surround audio mix was conducted by Samuel Lehmer, a frequent Ravin’ Films collaborator, at facilities in Los Angeles.
